James Spader Not Staying At The Office
The Office executive producer/showrunner said today that James Spader will not return to the NBC comedy next season. The actor, who parlayed a two-scene appearance at the end of last season as Robert California into a full-season gig, had only signed a one-year deal. “James always wanted this to be a one year arc, and he now leaves us having created one of the most enigmatic and dynamic characters in television,” Lieberstein said. “Hes been a great friend to me and the show, helping us successfully transition into the post-Michael Scott years, and Im grateful for that.”

Will Viewers Tire of The Reality TV Singing Wars?
The Bachelor When Bachelor host Chris Harrison told us hometown dates would change the pecking order of the remaining women, he wasn't kidding. Not only did season-long front-runner Kacie fall from near the top, but she was also cut from the competition completely. We checked in with Harrison, who explained why Kacie's parents weren't the only factor in her demise and why Ben is headed for trouble on next week's fantasy dates. What did you think of Courtney's hometown date?Chris Harrison: I don't think Courtney redeemed herself on the hometown date - in a lot of people's eyes she has more to do. But at least we got to see a very different human side of her. She was more contrite and she regretted the fact that she treated the women like that. Once you get away from the situation, you realize how it got the best of you and it did for her. Will she go further than that as far as apologizing and owning up to it? We'll see at the Women Tell All. Did Courtney really steal her vows from the Sex and the City finale?Harrison: Apparently, we have the most astute fans in the world - or it was just a good line. The Bachelor's Emily on her surprising exit: People say I dodged a bulletDo you think Kacie's parents sealed her fate?Harrison: Her parents are phenomenal and hopefully she's not mad [but] it just showed what a huge cultural difference there is between Ben and Kacie's family. It also exposed something else about Kacie: She's young and her dad still has a lot of power over her. Kacie was the front-runner and she completely fell out of the race in one fell swoop. I've never seen fortunes change like that. If you asked me as recently as Puerto Rico or Belize, no question she was Top 2. Nicki certainly came out of nowhere. Harrison: Nicki and her family did the opposite [from Kacie's]. Her family pretty much saved her, and Ben got to see her in a completely different light. Her family also empowered her in the opposite direction, and she was able to give herself to Ben in a much different way [by telling him she's in love with him]. The Bachelor's Chris Harrison: I never would've predicted this negative reaction to Ben Ben seemed to fit right in with Lindzi's family.Harrison: I want them to adopt me! He walked in and was family. I don't know where these people are from, but if this doesn't work out for Lindzi, I don't think she'll have a shortage of men lined up to see her. What can you say about next week's fantasy dates?Harrison: People are going to be surprised at how conflicted Courtney is over the fantasy suite. Just kidding! Now Ben has three women who had phenomenal hometown dates and it will be the most intense exotic dates we've had in quite some time. Usually there's that one where they're trying to figure things out, but all of three of them are at the point where they should be heading into a proposal. That's a good thing, but also a bad thing for Ben. Watch this week's Bachelor: The Morning After Catch Chris Harrison live on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday at 6e/3p on TV Guide Network.

'Star Wars' game boost Electronic Arts coffers
'Star Wars: The Old Republic'The Force is with Electronic Arts a month after the release of "Star Wars: The Old Republic," considered to be the most expensive videogame ever produced. The publisher said Wednesday that 2 million copies of the game, that cost nearly $200 million to produce, have been sold since Dec. 20, while 1.7 million of its buyers are active subscribers, paying the $15 monthly fee to play the game."Star Wars" helped EA post a 17% increase in revenue of $1.65 billion for its fiscal third quarter, during the three month period that ended Dec. 31, while profits rose 71% to $334 million, when adjusted for the deferral of digital revenue. On a non-adjusted basis, EA narrowed its net loss to $205 million from a $322 million loss a year earlier.Like many gamemakers, EA is turning more to online gaming as a way to put more coin in its coffers, given the higher profit margins, and a constant flow of subscription-based revenue it can collect. That sector of the games biz generated $7 billion last year, according to Parks & Associates."Star Wars: The Old Republic is developing a committed community of players ... and growing," EA CEO John Riccitiello said. The gamemaker's Nucleus registration system now has a database of more than 168 million consumers, while Origin, EA's online store has registered more than 9.3 million consumers and generated more than $100 million since launch from games it's sold with Warner Bros., THQ, Capcom, Trio and Robot Entertainment. Its first free-to-play mobile game, "The Sims: FreePlay" was the top-grossing iPad app in December. EA also scored with "Battlefield 3" and soccer title "FIFA 12," during the holiday quarter. Each have sold more than 10 million units, while "Madden NFL 12" has moved nearly 5 million units to date.Shares of the Redwood City, Calif.-based company dipped 14 cents to close at $18.44 due to EA expecting revenue to come in between $925 million and $975 million, below expectations when its current quarter wraps up March 12. But the stock rose more than 4% after the market closed, to $19.20. Contact Marc Graser at marc.graser@variety.com
