Seville remembers Russian cinema
SEVILLE -- The eighth edition from the Seville European Film Festival, Europe's primary devoted showcase for that continent's films, is tossing the spotlight on recent Russian Cinema. Bowing Friday, and running through November. 11, fest will screen additional features, shorts and docu films from youthful and vet Russian filmmakers. Two Russian photos, Andrei Zvyagintsev's "Elena," which won a Cannes' Not Certain Regard jury prize, and Nikolay Khomeriki's Match Factory-offered "Heart's Boomerang," a black-and-whitened drama, play Seville's primary Competition. Seville will recognition Nikita Mikhalkov, whose "Burnt through the Sun: The Citadel," Russia's foreign-language film Oscar entry, forms a part of a retrospective. "Russian cinema is taking pleasure in a brand new spring in the subjects and designers," stated Seville fest's artistic director Javier Martin-Dominguez. "Our focus mainly consumes new company directors and much more novel topics, reflecting an exciting, modern cinema," he added. A vital meeting point for that European film industry, Seville will promote co-productions between Russia and The country. The spanish language helmer Jose Luis Garcia Sanchez's comedy "Don't Touch the Dead, Kid," which sources exactly the same-entitled novel by late film writer Rafael Azcona, among The spanish language cinema's best, world preems at Seville's opening gala. Created by Juan Gona and co-composed by Garcia Sanchez, David Trueba and Bernardo Sanchez, pic completes an Azcona film trilogy representing '50s The country.
